Emergency medicine is the medical specialty that endeavors to thediagnosis and treatment of the acutely ill and injured patients. With the increasing number of the world population, as well as the aging of the global population, the accelerating rates of urbanization, wars in the region and the ever frequented natural disasters have all led to unprecedented increases in the need for emergency health services both at pre-hospital and hospital levels. As a result of this growing need, emergency medicine has been accepted as a distinct field in a growing number of countries since the mid-20thcentury.
