Before the law establishing the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation on May 1, 1964, radio broadcasts, which were carried out for the first time under the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, were gathered under the umbrella of TRT in 1964. Following Istanbul Radio, which started broadcasting on May 6, 1927, Ankara Radio made its first broadcasts in 1928. Ankara and Istanbul Radios were transferred to PTT on 8 September 1936. Ankara Radio, whose transmitter was strengthened after it was transferred to PTT, was officially put into operation on October 28, 1938. Istanbul Radio, which took a break from broadcasting in October 1938, returned to broadcasting on 19 November 1949. II. With the World War, radio stations were connected to the newly established General Directorate of Press (General Directorate of Press and Tourism/Information). Izmir Radio, which started its broadcasting life under Izmir Municipality in 1950, continued its broadcasts within the General Directorate of Press since 1953. After 1960, Provincial Radios were established in 8 provinces. In 1961, the Constitutional article stipulating that the management of radio broadcasts should be regulated as an autonomous and impartial public economic institution came into force.
