Maersk ME1 Service Calls APM Terminals Pipavav

New Service links Northwest India to Europe and Africa

The 10,100 TEU capacity Maersk Gibraltar arrived at APM Terminals Pipavav on June 16th, marking both the first call of Maersk Line’s ME1 Service to the facility and a new record for the largest vessel ever to call Pipavav Port. The newly added weekly loop linking Europe, the  Middle East and India provides direct connections to Pipavav with Salalah, Oman; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Port Tangier, Morocco;  Felixstowe, UK; Antwerp, Belgium; Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven, Germany; Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Algeciras, Spain; Aqaba, Jordan and ebel Ali, in the UAE. The 337-meter long Maersk Gibraltar loaded cargoes of refrigerated agricultural products and iron castings for export.

 

An expansion at APM Terminal Pipavav was recently completed, strengthening the existing berth, performing additional dredging and adding 3 new post-Panamax cranes and 4 new Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes, which has increased annual throughput capacity to 1.35 million TEUs. Container throughput at the port was 6,82,000 TEUs in 2016, along with approximately 3 million tons of bulk cargo.  Current annual general cargo capacities include 5 million metric tons off Dry Bulk, 2 million metric tons of Liquid Bulk and approximately 250,000 passenger cars.
