Amidst escalating tensions between India and China at the LAC and the Indian Intelligence Agencies flagging TikTok as one of the 52 Chinese apps that the government should ban, one startup has decided to take a stance in support of the Indian army and India at large.

Rizzle, a short videos platform that has been quietly rising up the ranks and gaining popularity, will no longer advertise on TikTok until further notice.

Rizzle - #IndiaFirst

With offices in Hyderabad and San Jose, Rizzle is a global video platform made in India. The app was launched a year ago and has made steady progress since.

Recently, Rizzle launched the #ThisIsMe Million Voices Project with an effort to bring stories from people highlighting their lives. The goal of this project is to show that we are all human, even though we may come from different backgrounds and may have different life experiences.

Now, Rizzle has kicked off #IndiaFirst🇮🇳 - a movement under the Million Voices Project umbrella that shows solidarity to the Indian army and putting India first.

By stopping their spend on TikTok ads, Rizzle is sending a powerful message against the Chinese platform. The #IndiaFirst🇮🇳 movement urges all Indian video creators to speak up and show their support for India and Indian led platforms.

Tensions between India and China have been reaching a tipping point in recent months with a lot of support for switching to Indian social media platforms. After a highly popular video by YouTuber, Carryminati, roasting the Tiktok culture, TikTok suffered a huge drop in ratings on Google Play, led by Indians rating the platform poorly. However, with Google’s action removing the YouTube video and restoring the ratings for TikTok, the video platform has continued its dominance in India.

Despite calls to boycott Chinese apps, TikTok’s audience appears to remain secure, at least for now.

However, Rizzle’s #IndiaFirst🇮🇳 movement is expected to send ripples through the video creation community throughout India, encouraging creators to be a vocal part of leading the change.

Rizzle appears to have built-in monetization for creators through contests and sponsorships, making it an ideal platform for aspiring influencers. From a content perspective, Rizzle is focused on talk shows and opinions, making it a great place to lead such a movement that involves bringing people’s voices.
