Discovery Channel to Premiere "India: Living Traditions"

Presenting a state-of-the-art production, Discovery Channel is premiering INDIA: LIVING TRADITIONS, a programme that will reveal lesser known facts of country’s vibrant cultural practices. The special will take the viewers through fascinating traditions, unique art forms and amazing natural phenomena of India which have been prevalent since a long time in the country.  

 

India: Living Traditions will premiere on Monday, October 20 at 9 pm only on Discovery Channel.

 

The programme will take viewers on explorations across India, revealing intriguing aspects of some of India's lesser known communities, customs, myths, folklore, festivals, performing arts and crafts, topography and architecture. The programme covers the intriguing and detailed aspect of Theyyam of Kerala, Patua of Bengal and the Rural Olympics of Punjab.

Viewers will get the firsthand experience of Theyyam,a colorful ritual dance of Kerala that attributes great importance to the worship of heroes and ancestral spirits. This sacred dance is believed to bring about well being for the society and the family. The programme will also showcase Patua Painting that is a form of Scroll Painting indigenous to West Bengal and has been a popular practice of storytelling. The Kila Raipur Rural Olympics which is a rural sports festival that's grown over six decades, to become a sports bonanza that attracts competitors from around the globe.

 

With this special programme, Discovery Channel is all to set to enthrall its audience with the rich and ancient  traditions of India and a definitive role it plays in the life of many of its people.
