BEL Launches 'Swachh Bharat' Campaign

Responding to the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi's call for 'Swachh Bharat' and to realise Mahatma Gandhi's dream of a clean India, Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) organised a cleanliness campaign from September 25 to October 2, 2014, in all its Units and offices.

As part of the campaign, under the leadership of the BEL management, employees cleaned their workplaces, office surroundings, removed weeds and other vegetation on the roadside and planted saplings.

On October 2, 2014, Gandhi Jayanti, the employees took the 'Swachhta Shapath'. At the Corporate Office, the pledge was administered in Kannada by Dr Ajit T Kalghatgi, Director (R&D), in Hindi by Mr Amol Newaskar, Director (Other Units), and in English by Mr P C Jain, Director (Marketing). Mr M L Shanmukh, Director (HR), exhorted the employees to maintain the cleanliness drive year-round at the workplace and elsewhere. Cleaning the road outside the Corporate Office was also undertaken.    

Earlier, on September 25, 2014, a sapling was planted by Mr S K Sharma, CMD, Directors and CVO. Mr Sharma spoke on the occasion and called for cleanliness to be a way of life at the workplace and outside.
