Bidsvilla in Association with Conferro Heritae Brings Rare Collectibles worth Rs. 400 Crores to India through Online Auctions

First ever dedicated online auction of rare vintage publications, Movie Memorabilia and Fine Arts

Bidsvilla, an online auction based marketplace for Indian arts,in alliance with London based auction house, Conferro Heritae, will be together rolling out an online auction series for art aficionados this October 2015. Bringing over 5 lakh units of inventory with a value of over Rs. 400 Crore of art and collectables, Bidsvilla: Conferro association will host this auction on the site www.bidsvilla.com.

The $250 million Indian Art Industry contributes about 0.4% of the total global art market that is currently worth $63 billion approximately. With buyers and sellers getting more comfortable with online auctioning of art, this market is set to grow exponentially. Tapping into this market and to satiate the desire of collectors looking to acquire rare items, this association of Bidsvilla and Conferro will bring a vast repository of collectibles to the Indian market.

The auctioning will include three categories. The first one is a 1st ever dedicated auction of vintage Indian and international news publications, magazines, cartoons, advertisements etc. like The New York Times, The Hindu, The Times of Vietnam, Japan Times, The Egyptian Gazette from 1900s published during important historic events. This will be followed by online auctioning of Movie Memorabilia from 1900 including old posters, synopsis, lobby cards, LPs etc. of movies from 1900s like Mughal-e-Azam, Guide, Mother India among others. It also include a special “Hollywood section” where posters from classical by Alfred Hitchcock and Charlie Chaplin will be up for sale. The last auction will include Fine Arts by artists like F.N. Souza, V.S.Gaitonde, S.H. Raza and M.F. Hussain.

As part of this association there will also be three auction previews in Mumbai, Delhi and Ludhiana between October 3rd and October 10th, 2015. As part of the previews Bidsvilla will be showcasing the inventory for the three auctions including some never seen before items. For the publications, there will be an original 1906 “Indian” Newspaper and an 1948 original copy of “Baapu ke path par” from 1948. For the movie memorabilia, along with very rare inventory from Baiju Bawra, there will be a special S.D. Burman lot to commemorate the 40 years of the legend’s death on 30th October 1975. The Fine art preview will include Souza, Mehta, and Gaitonde and their works.
