India Men Hockey Team Go Down to Australia 0-4

After an intense battle between India Men Hockey Team and Australia in the first match of the India-Australia four-match test series, India went down to Australia 0-4 in the match played today in Perth.

Both the teams started with aggressive attacks since the first minute and challenged each other's defence line. However, it was Australia who earned a penalty corner in the 15th minute and forward Jeremy Hayward successfully converted it into the first goal of the match, taking the lead of 1-0.

The 2nd quarter also saw a fierce battle between India and Australia as both the teams fought neck-to-neck to score. India managed to create few opportunities but failed to materialise those chances into goals. In the 30th minute, Australian forward Jacob Whetton sneaked into the Indian defence-line and scored their second goal to take the scorecard to 2-0.

Trailing by 0-2, India aggressively attacked in the Australian half in the 3rd quarter. However, Australia counter attacked on the Indian side and scored third goal in 34th minute with the help of Jeremy Edwards. In the 39th minute, midfielder Glenn Simpson successfully converted the penalty corner, taking the lead to 4-0.

The second match of the series will be played on 5 November 2014 and broadcasted live on YouTube at 1630 HRS (IST), tomorrow.
