- Padma Bhushan awardee Prof.Manjul Bharagava, R.Bradon Fradd Professor of Mathematics, Princeton University, USA, was the ceremony's Chief Guest

- A total of 2234 degrees were awarded this year

Prof. Manjul Bharagava, Fields Medalist 2014, R.Bradon Fradd Professor of Mathematics, Princeton University, USA, was the Chief Guest for the 52ndConvocation at IIT Madras. Prof.Manjul Bharagava was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by the institute. Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Madras & Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, Presided over the function.

The Chief Guest handed over the prizes to the students. Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras awarded the degrees to the students. This year’s convocation marked the first time that Dual Degrees (M.S and PhD) were being awarded. A total of 2234 degrees were awarded, the break-up of which is given below:
