Indian Participation Continues to Grow at SIAL China 2017

Participation from Indian companies is steadily growing at SIAL China, Asia's largest food and beverage exhibition and will be opening its doors again from May 17^th to May 19^th, 2017 in Shanghai. Exporters from the buffalo meat and packaged snacks sectors will be showcasing the Indian food processing sector at the exhibition. Some major companies participating are Allanasons, Al Faheem Meatex and HMA Agro. Moreover, close to 100 Indian visitors are expected to travel to the exhibition including buyers from some of the leading food importers in the country.

Jim Liu, President, SIAL China, explains that China is the world’s largest consumer market and its food market has exceeded 1.5 trillion USD in 2016 :“Chinese are savvy consumers and are interested in products that are high quality, exotic, safe and novel. Dairy products, vegetable oils, Livestock and poultry and seafood are some of the major Chinese food imports. As a developing agricultural production powerhouse, India is well positioned to supply China for its import needs in cereals, meat, dairy and value added food.”

SIAL China is now the largest food and beverage exhibition in Asia, attracting 3,200 exhibitors from 70 countries, displaying their products through 13 halls and attracting 80,000 professional food visitors from across China and other Asian countries.  The exhibition is an ideal platform for Indian exporters and buyers to discover the best of Asian and international food products from across a range of sectors : all varieties of grocery and ready to eat, confectionary, chocolate, tea & coffee, dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen and cured meats and fish and much more.

As the Indian and Chinese governments continue to work of developing trade, opening an ever wider range of food and beverage products for export from India and in particular reducing the trade deficit between the two countries, events like SIAL China can contribute to bridging the gap and building a stronger commercial relationship. “We are welcoming Argentina as Guest Country of Honor in 2017 and hope to welcome India, very soon, in the near future,” added Mr Liu, as part of his closing remarks.
