ITDC Show Cased Strengths at “Bharat Parv”

Ashok Events and AIH&TM presented ITDC expertise at the four day long cultural extravaganza

To mark the 67th Republic day and evoke a feeling of patriotism amongst citizens ‘Bharat Parv’, the four day festival showcasing rich cultural and ethnic heritage of India was held at the Red Fort grounds from January 26, 2016 to January 29, 2016.

 

Organized by Ministry of Tourism, the festival was managed by The Ashok Events, an event management and creative division of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). The festival displayed cultural performances, including folk and tribal dances from various states, as well as music programs that were organized by the culture ministry during the event. There were also performances by Armed Forces' bands on all four days. 

 

One of the highlights of the celebrations was the Food festival that displayed food stalls set up by the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) and the Institutes of Hotel Management. Ashok Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (AIH&TM), a premier hospitality training institute under the HRD division of India Tourism Development Corporation, was amongst the participating institutes at the festival.

 

Present at the event, Mr. Jayant Khanna- General Manager, The Ashok Events, ITDC said, “Ashok Events is proud and honored to be a part of this four day extravaganza designated as MOT executive agency.” This was not the first time The Ashok Events was handling such projects, “The Ashok Events is the officially designated agency to manage events on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, successfully managing events both abroad and within the country in the past as well.”

 

Talking about their strong market position and some of the major projects, Mr. Khanna added, “Ashok Events has successfully handled over 180 events for various ministries of Govt. Of India and other reputed organizations. It has also rendered event management services for Indo-US CEO Forum’ and ‘India-US Business Summit’ chaired by Hon’ble PM of India and Hon’ble President of USA in the past.”

 

Sh. Anup K. Chatterji, GM(HRD)-ITDC and Principal of Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management said, " AIH&TM has brought the flavours of India together and at the forefront we are showcasing Awadhi Cuisine and offering authentic Royal Delicacies brought straight from the era of Nawabs." He further stated that “Although being the youngest Institute of Hotel Management affiliated to NCHMCT, we have made our presence felt at Bharat Parv and our food stall has attracted people from all over India who happened to be in Delhi during the Republic Day celebrations. The food stall attracted appreciation from foreigners as well.” The food stall set up by AIH&TM was managed by the students of the first batch of BSc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration course, under the guidance of the faculty & staff. The students of AIH&TM looked enthusiastic being associated with the first ever Bharat Parv 2016 celebrations.

 

Present at the AIH&TM stall was Sh. Harsh Kumar Bhutani, Sr. Manager ITDC along with his team to support the students. The students also enacted "Nukad Naatak" at Red Fort premise on Promoting Cleanliness at Monuments. As such, ITDC adopted Qutub Minar monument under CSR venture and providing support to the ASI in keeping the monument clean.

 

The other highlights of the festival included display of Republic Day Parade tableaux, performances by the Armed Forces Bands (static and moving), Crafts Mela and Cultural Performances from different regions of the country.
