Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar, Ludhiana Gets Inducted As a New Academy Member of Hockey India

In its bid to reach the grassroots of Hockey, Hockey India today announced the induction of Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar, Ludhiana as its 7th Academy Member.

Since its inception in 1986, Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar has been actively involved in the development of the game by organizing the Jarkhar Sports Festival every year. The Academy even organizes the Olympian Prithipal Singh Hockey Tournament for U-17 teams every year.

Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar has its own hockey stadium with 7 a side Astroturf alongwith a 22 room hostel for the players. With 80 young players being part of this academy, this induction will further enable Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar to increase the number of players for training in the academy. The Academy also holds regular tournaments and camps which helps them in identifying talent in the region. 

Speaking on the newly inducted Academy Member, Hockey India Secretary General Dr. Narinder Batra said, “We are honoured to welcome Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar as our Academy Member. We extend our full support to Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar for the development of the game and working together with them will definitely provide an additional opportunity to the young talent in the region”.

Hockey India currently has 25 Permanent Members, 23 Associate Members, 2 Members through State Olympic Associations, 7 Academy Members and 1 Hoc-Key Member.

Mr. Jagroop Singh Jarkhar is the Director of the Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar, Ludhiana.
